Fred’s “Unsinkable Spirit” is more amazing than he humbly depicts in his story. The challenge of confronting the problems of volunteer youth sports would scare away even the most determined individuals, but Fred’s undaunted commitment and vision is inspiring. His success has helped improve the experience of young athletes dramatically.

There are people who see things and say "that ain't right," then there are those who do something about it. Fred is one of the doers. His impact has been felt across the world and now we learn where that vision has its beginnings. Fred has an insurmountable amount of energy to go along with that Unsinkable Spirit, from the first day he learned that we all have to work to get by in this world. Fortunately for thousands of youth, Fred turned his energy to improving their lives through sports.

I have worked with Mr. Engh for over 17 years and he never ceases to amaze me.
Unsinkable Spirits is an insightful look into the life of a young man who had every reason to take what life dealt to him and give up but chose instead to take lessons learned and make life better for others. If the world had more individuals like Fred Engh, who put the well-being of others first, it would be a much better place.

It is very hard to read a book these days about someone's life, as I did in reading "Unsinkable Spirit" by Fred Engh, where you become involved in the outcome of one's life. From the cover page of smiling faces of children playing a sport to the last page of the book, I was engulfed in the outcome of Fred’s and Michaele’s (Mike) life. Here is a man that was thrown as a child into the real world of work to help support the family and did not really get to play sports that much throughout his childhood, but ended up later in his life understanding the feelings of children through sports better than people that dealt in sports all their lives. He has made the sports world all the better by educating volunteers to become better people, coaches or volunteers with his knowledge and his love for all the children around the entire world to enjoy a sports.
